After players complete 30 searches in the Black Beacon beginner pool, they can choose one from five SSR characters: Ireshian, Rosy, Viola, Nana, and Lichi. Many players are unsure which to pick, worried that a wrong choice might affect their subsequent experience. Since these are the officially recommended 5-star selections, there's a reason behind it; all of these characters perform well and have their own strengths. However, if we were to list a priority, it wouldn't be impossible. Let's take a look below!

Rosy
A light-attack, sustainability-type character, she can serve as a secondary DPS and also function as a healer, with excellent overall capabilities. If you get her from an up pool, you can choose other characters, but if not, she is highly recommended for selection. Her basic attack has 4 segments, and in the tuning state, it starts directly from the third segment. Using Skill 1 and fully charged Skill 2 can enter this state, where basic attacks accumulate resonances, turning into area attacks that deal damage and generate notes that follow the character. These notes can boost the attack of on-field characters and assist in attacks.

Skill 1 is a damaging skill, while Skill 2 is a forward thrust that can be charged for more damage, and when fully charged, it directly enters the enhanced state and gains 1 resonance. The ultimate skill performs continuous piercing attacks and enhances notes, providing extra damage to the entire team. Rosy's strength is very high, though her output may not be as extreme as some other characters, she has excellent healing abilities, and during the thrust, she is invincible. The output cycle is simple: thrust, stab, then basic attack, triggering a combo dance.

Viola
A lightning-attack, sustainability-type character, she is positioned as a secondary DPS, with a large AOE, making her very strong in exhaustive mode. She has a half-health self-heal and performs well in many modes, making her another highly recommended 5-star character. Viola's skill mechanism is easy to understand. Skill 1 is a continuous AOE that can be dragged to select the release position, spreading echoes within the range, dealing continuous damage to enemies outside the sound field. Skill 2 slashes towards the target, causing damage, and if it touches the sound field, it can convert the original tuning sound field into a dissonant sound field and refresh its duration, also causing continuous damage within the latter's range.

This means you can start with Skill 1 and keep using basic attacks, refreshing Skill 1 when its duration is about to end, and use the ultimate skill whenever available, releasing two electric grids to trap enemies. It's clear that her output pattern is very simple, with no complex mechanisms, just AOE within AOE, suitable for gameplay modes with dense enemy clusters.

Nana
A dark-attack, sustainability-type character, also positioned as a secondary DPS, this character requires some skill (catching the crescent blades), so her ceiling is high, and she is quite technique-dependent. The skill set is quite good, and to play her well, you need to understand the specific skill mechanisms. Her basic attack has 4 segments, and in the new moon state, it starts directly from the third segment. The skill throws a spinning blade at the enemy, and if it hits, the other crescent blade bounces back, transforming herself into the new moon state. In this state, the skill becomes a single-blade thrust and can adjust direction during the action, retreating in the opposite direction. If you catch the bouncing crescent blade in the air, you can combine the two crescent blades and counterattack, and catching this blade can also temporarily enhance another skill, "Moon Dance," which is a forward-leaping damage skill that, when enhanced, can perform more segments of attacks.

The most recommended characters from the Black Beacon beginner pool are the three mentioned above. As for the other two, Ireshian is a dark-attack, destruction-type main DPS, and she can be used in the main story missions. This character is not bad, but her gameplay still needs development, and her strength is not particularly high. Another one is Lichi, a lightning-attack, destruction-type main DPS. All of her skills serve her passive, and in the enhanced state, her basic attack has automatic target lock, which feels nice to operate, but her base numerical multipliers are not very powerful. She only becomes strong after stacking high potential, otherwise, she can easily die. The above are just personal opinions, and the differences between these characters are not that significant. Choosing based on preference is also fine.
